Painting a successful portrait entails more than capturing a likeness. It is very important for me to also see and bring out the most positive expression and pose for my client. Throughout the painting process, I tend to paint what I see. More importantly though, I “feel” my way through the portrait process. In the end, the portrait must “feel” right to me. This usually results in the most positive responses from my clients during the unveiling.
I am truly blessed to have a career as an artist and in particular as a painter of portraits. From children to the elderly, all are beautiful and unique. Each subject offers a different painting challenge. Landscapes, still life or floral can all be stimulating subjects to paint. However, portraits also offer the opportunity to be connected to another human being creating energy and excitement to the project. It’s a great life and only improves with each new client.
